Hello everyone! This is the last project I've been working on! It is a small scene that I developed with some shaders. Although the initial idea was some solidified lava textures, my friend Thibaut Reimel suggested me to push the project a bit more and make some moving lava. So after giving it some thinking, I decided to go for it.
The first shader used for the solidified lava works with triplanar mapping. I saved all the UVs process, I can control the tiling uniformly for all meshes, and I designed it so that it blends based on the heightmap, I could choose the contrast and some other details, like heightmap intensity, roughness or base color values...etc...
For the lava shader, I used a panner to move the lava in one direction, and added Flowmaps to the shader so that there would be distortion, both in the center of the flow and in the sides. Within the material instance I could control intensity of the flowmaps, speed of the panner, intensity of the different emissives that were used with the vertex color...
The whole scene uses nanite with displacement based on the heightmap, which gives a very detailed surface finish, and works great with the lumen.
The rocks are meshes downloaded from Megascans, I just kept the retopologized geometry but applying my materials. Also I added some smoke particles I had done in the past for other projects, just to get some steamy hot vibes! The textures were done completelly in SD, special thanks to Chris Hodgson for his Multi Directional Warp Node, that gives a really nice effect on the black melted lava material!
I hope you like it! Cheers!
